God’s Own Country star Josh O’Connor is the new ambassador for Loewe menswear, making him the first face of the brand under Jonathan Anderson’s creative direction.

The film, released earlier this year, stars O’Connor as Johnny Saxby – a Yorkshire farmer whose life is transformed when migrant worker Gheorghe is hired as extra help.

After viewing the film, Anderson stated “I went to see God’s Own Country and remember coming out of the film feeling incredibly affected. I thought that Josh’s performance had a genuine strength which feels very pure, and an organic kind of feeling which I really liked. As soon as we were thinking about a face for Loewe men’s, Josh was someone who came straight to the front of my mind.”

O’Connor’s performance was praised by critics for its vulnerability and the relationship between him and co-star Alec Secareanu. He’s since gone on to win the Best Actor award at the British Independent Film Awards for his performance.
