Woolrich’s new footwear collection updates its voyager roots
By Alex James Taylor | Fashion | 27 March 2018

The oldest manufacturer of outdoor-wear in the United States, Woolrich holds an impressive CV. Founded in Pennsylvania in 1830 by John Rich for the purpose of manufacturing fabric for the wives of hunters, loggers and trappers, the brand later provided blankets for civil war soldiers and outfitted Richard E. Byrd’s famous 1939-1941 Antarctic expedition.

So if you’re looking for style and substance, you’d be hard-pressed to find better. Consistently looking to develop and bolster its line-up, last season saw the brand launch it’s debut footwear collection during Pitti Uomo, merging outdoor tech with a progressive style.

Building on this initial drop, Woolrich’s sophomore footwear collection echoes the values of the brand, bridging city and country. While the men’s collection envelopes boots, sneakers, slippers and a lined suede Air Mash model – perfect for both mountain trails and weaving through tourists – the womenswear line-up explores both coasts of the New World; consisting of suede trip slip-ons, nubuck trainers and mountain boots with performance detailing.
