It’s finally here, the first trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria has landed – and it’s a real spine-chiller.

Inspired by Dario Argento‘s stylish 1977 masterpiece of the same name, since the announcement of Guadagnino’s (A Bigger Splash and Call Me by Your Name) new iteration fans have been waiting with bated breath. So what better way to cure that excitement than by literally taking our breath away. Click play on the trailer below and you’ll understand where we’re coming from.

Leaving behind the glossy technicolor of Argento’s original, this initial teaser shows a bleaker, oppressive approach to the story, described by Guadagnino as “cold, evil and really dark”. Starring Dakota Johnson as a young American ballerina who joins a world-renowned dance company, but once there discovers that there is more going on within than just dance instruction, the film also stars Tilda Swinton, Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdorf, and Jessica Harper. Elsewhere the original ’77 synth-heavy soundtrack – created by Italian prog rockers Goblin – has been replaced by a Thom Yorke original composition – the Radiohead frontman’s first ever movie score.
