Emotional wreck

As we all eagerly await Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming Suspiria remake, it turns out some have already seen an advanced screening of the film, including a certain Quentin Tarantino which, as reported by IndieWire, resulted in a strong emotional reaction from the US director.
In an interview with Italian publication La Repubblica, Guadagnino revealed he showed his adaptation of Dario Argento’s stylish cult horror to Tarantino last fall and left him in tears.
“I showed it to Quentin Tarantino. We’ve been friends since our jury duty at the Venice Film Festival,” Guadagnino said. “I was nervous but eager to hear his advice. We saw it at his place and his reaction warmed me. He was enthusiastic about it, in the end he was crying and hugged me. Because it’s a horror movie but also a melodrama, my goal was to make you look at the horror without being able to take [your eyes off the screen] because you’re captivated by the characters. Amazon is very happy.”
Starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton and Mia Goth – amongst others – common folk such as ourselves will have to wait until the film’s November 2nd release date before we can have the opportunity to be as balled other as Tarantino. So that gives you plenty of time to watch and re-watch Argento’s 1977 classic.
