Wes-worshippers rejoice, pull out your pair of binoculars adjust your beret and set a course for the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna. In it’s palatial splendour, it could be mistaken for a distant relative of the Grand Budapest Hotel, but this November it will play host to a debut foray into the world of art, an exhibition curated by Wes Anderson and his partner, designer Juman Malouf.

Precious little is known about, The Spitzmaus Mummy in a Coffin and Other Treasures from the Kunsthistorisches Museum (apart from how well it rolls off the tongue), what is clear is that Anderson and Malouf will be given triple A access to the Museum’s treasure trove of artefacts. In the words of Jasper Shapr, the museum’s Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, it’s an “embarrassment of riches” that basically includes everything the Museum owns, from Egyptian Mummies, Greek and Roman antiquities, to the paintings of the Old Masters, the ‘Kunstkammer’, and the Imperial Treasury.

From this potpourri of cultural relics, Wes Anderson will piece together some kind of visual presentation for 6th November, no doubt aided by Malouf, who has designed and illustrated for theatre, film, and fashion (muse of Alessandro Michele, no less). Will it be symmetrical? Will the programme be in bright yellow Futura font? At this point we can only dream, stay tuned for more information.
