Hate the Haus – a night of music and art in support of pro-choice and women’s rights
This Thursday, Hate the Haus returns for its third iteration, drawing together some of the capital’s finest musicians, poets and DJs for a night of music and art in support of Dutch non-governmental organisation, Women On Waves.
Headed by Luisa Le Voguer Couyet of Hate Zine and Jessica Winter of London based Pregoblin, Hate The Haus runs events to promote and support philanthropic organisations – previously Extinction Rebellion and Lesbians and Gays Support Migrants. This time, their charity of choice is Women on Waves, a pro-choice cause aiming to prevent unsafe abortions and empower women to exercise their human rights to physical and mental autonomy.
Taking place at the Laylow – just around the corner from Ladbroke Grove – the line-up boasts a medley of musicians, performers, drag artists, DJs, and spoken word poets. Performing on the night, Latvian avant-garde pop singer Elizabete Balcus brings her neo-psych dream pop to London, alongside sets by Meggie Brown, Mushy P (aka Lottie from Goat Girl) and Jessica Winter herself. While DJ sets from Celeste (Female Trouble), Teeth Studio DJs and Ava Akira will take us into the early hours works by fine art student Ella O’Loughlin will be exhibited throughout.
It’s five pounds entry, with all proceeds from ticket sales being donated to aid Women on Waves. Good cause, good music, good times. What more do you want?
