Time flies, so to keep you in the loop, we’ve rounded up all the important snippets of fashion news from the past seven days into one neat feature. This week includes a Westwood footwear collaboration and football boots by Balenciaga.  

Kenzo collaborated with WWF

Our tigers are in trouble. Over a century ago, wild tiger populations totaled 100,000 worldwide, but plummeted to 3,200 in 2010. Doing their bit to help this, Kenzo has teamed up with WWF on a special collaborative capsule that will support a global goal, known as TX2, that hopes to double the number of tigers in the wild by 2022, the next Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac. Across wardrobe staples, the tiger becomes a positive emblem, with the French brand donating $10 to the WWF TX2 initiative for each item sold.

The new Kenzo collection will be available on 28th September.

Balenciaga released a pair of football boots

The football season is back, having kicked off with a goal-fest opening weekend. As each team proudly displays their new kits, we’re still pining for those Balenciaga‘s FW20 shirts worn by models at Demna’s show last season. In the meantime, the designer has announced that the Balenciaga football boots premiered in the collection are now available at select stores and online. Made for everyday wear as opposed to on the pitch, they’re the ultimate footwear for footy fans who prefer to stay clear of a cold, rainy night in Stoke.

Kiko Kostadinov collaborated on a collection of hypnotic handbags

Earlier this week, Italian based brand MEDEA collaborated with Kiko Kostadinov on a series of trippy bags. Transposing the designer’s elliptical vortex graphics from AW20, the three different styles come in seven different colour-ways, each more hypnotic than the last. Crafted from 100 percent leather and finished with gold metalwear, its luxury that you can’t help but look at.

The collaborative bags will be available soon via Kiko Kostadinov and Medea‘s online stores.

Vivienne Westwood and Asics unveiled their latest co-creation

Having debuted on the FW20 catwalk, the latest collaboration between Vivienne Westwood and Asics (following up on last year’s archive deep-dive) sees a hole-y different approach. Taking the Gel Kayano 26 model as its base, the new design takes its main inspiration from the original sack shoes first shown in the Westwood & Malcolm McLaren FW1982- 83 Nostalgia of Mud collection, in which primitive footwear was reconstructed with modest means. Building on that idea of minimising materials, the new shoe adopts a semi-transparent mesh with a simple pull-and-draw in place of laces. Think of it as a string vest but for your feet.

Stone Island released a pair of killer aviators

Two Italian brands with an eye for innovation and design, Stone Island and Persol have teamed up to create a limited-edition pilot-style sunglasses model. Taking its cues from a 70s archive model, the new iteration features a gunmetal frame, yellow temple tips and light blue polarized lenses. Think Top Gun if Tom Cruise’s character swapped his aircraft for something interstellar.

The Stone Island x Persol PO2470S Pilot Frame will be available on 29th September at Stone Island and Persol stores and websites.

Virgil Abloh went OOO

Now that the office is quickly fading into distant memory, Virgil Abloh has released an Off-White shoe for our new permanent OOO reality. The Out of Office sneaker was debuted earlier this week in Milan and is referred to as a tennis shoe with a 90s aesthetic but with distinct basketball and running influences. Prioritising comfort above all else, the sneaker comes in five colour ways, with an introductory series of images shot by Juergen Teller.
