Dior‘s savoir-faire has always been defined by its tailoring – from Monsieur Dior’s trailblazing New Look to Kim Jones‘ current menswear silhouettes. In celebration of this heritage, Jones has crafted a dedicated Modern Tailoring capsule collection, “combining the iconic house codes with the contemporary spirit dear to the artistic director of Dior Men’s collections.”
Formed with mix-and-match versatility in mind, the capsule consists of three jackets and three trouser styles that feed between the lines of casual and formal – a long-defined Jones trait. Rendered in three emblematic cloths – black virgin wool and mohair blend, a textured micro houndstooth and a Prince of Wales check – here, signature Dior silhouettes are redefined via a contemporary mindset: one jacket takes its proportions with workwear styling and another is drawn in a Harrington shape, while trousers take pointers from chinos and jogging pant comfort. As always, finishing touches are key: buttons are borrowed from the iconic Bar Suit – an enduring symbol of Dior’s New Look renaissance – and a matte black ‘CD’ motif pin sits on the lapel.
The collection is launched by a lookbook photographed by Brett Lloyd and featuring friends of the house, including actors Arnaud Valois and Jérémie Laheurte and artist Kailand Morris, the son of Stevie Wonder. Each wears the B27 Dior sneakers, naturally
