Perfect pairing
A collaboration between Fred Perry and Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY just makes sense: both are forged on British subcultural energy, both unpick traditional formality to create new, and both revolve around a world of burgeoning creative talent. Cue the two brands’ debut team-up, a capsule collection defined by British youth culture and individualism.
Reworking the Fred Perry DNA in tune with his own, Jeffrey reinterprets some of the brand’s most iconic pieces through his inimitable lens of punk optimism and DIY craft. Fusing the two labels’ shared heritage of tartan, check patterns are sliced and spliced across polos, bomber jackets, shirting and berets, while Aran knit jumpers, cardigans and knee-high socks speak of Jeffrey’s signature knitwear – taking traditional uniform codes and twisting them into rebellious forms.

Marking the collection, Jeffrey took a nostalgia trip to his student years in London, when the city was bouncing to its nu-rave and indie scene. Here, those glowstick, day-glo nights manifest as other-worldly models played by nascent Glasgow musicians James Potter from Walt Disco and Lucia Fairfull from Lucia & the Best Boys. Within a short film narrated by Jeffrey (below), these punk aliens survey the land finding familiarity in neon lights and pulsing beats before converting a hitchhiker to their ways – think Under the Skin lost on a weekend rave bender.
