Salvatorre Ferragamo has named designer Maximilian Davis as its new creative director. Born in Manchester, Davis founded his eponymous brand in 2020 having graduated from London College of Fashion and previously worked as a designer for Wales Bonner.

Coming shortly after Davis’ FW22 show, as part of London talent incubator Fashion East, in which he rallied against the anti-sex catholicism prevalent in the catholic school of his youth while also acknowledging the role of religion within his family, this exciting news also shines light on why the designer withdrew from this year’s LVMH Prize, in which he was nominated for his singular craft: blending elements of his Trinidadian heritage with a contemporary, tailored elegance.

Davis will begin working at Ferragamo on 16th March.
