The collection was inspired by Luis Bunuel’s incredible 1967 work Belle de Jour, specifically Marcel (played by Pierre Clementi), the violent, gold-grinned lover of Catherine Deneuve’s housewife-cum-prostitute Severine. Within Vaccarello’s collection, Marcel’s androgyny translates across slick patent leather trench coats, dishevelled tailoring and more than a hint of menace.
