Set to Sonic Youth‘s beautifully distorted cover of The Carpenter’s Superstar, Stuart Vevers’ FW22 Coach show took place on Valentine’s Day, and romance was in the air. But not the twee Hallmark version promoted by card shops, instead a Kim Gordon version of romance: grungy, real and incredibly potent. Oversized shearling coats were worn over printed babydoll dresses and grungy tees. Thick-rim sunglasses, graffiti skirts and lush leathers: trenches, trousers, waistcoats. Notes of sweet and sour twisted into a delicious mix.
