News, news, news! Ludovic de Saint Sernin has been appointed creative director of Ann Demeulemeester!

Marking a new direction for the fashion house, the appointment sees LdSS bring his fluid, romantic aesthetic to the house. Born in Belgian, like Demeulemeester herself, de Saint Sernin launched his eponymous label in 2017 and has swiftly risen with acclaim for his artistic and sensual approach to glamour: known for his lace-up eyelet briefs, sheer looks and crystal halter-neck tops. In his exploration of sexuality and gender, de Saint Sernin shares Robert Mapplethorpe as a muse with Demeulemeester.

The announcement comes with a set of images shot by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Olivier Rizzo which sees de Saint Sernin wearing pieces from the Ann Demeulemeester archive.

An accompanying statement reads: “Sensuality, tension, silhouette, fluidity, wildness, and a graphic feel are defining pillars of the language Ludovic de Saint Sernin is about to build as he traces the new course of Ann Demeulemeester, injecting his approach to fashion as a tool to shape and free one’s presence and appearance.”

Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s first collection for Ann Demeulemeester will be unveiled in March 2023 during Paris Fashion Week.
