Hello, petal
Prada have dropped the visuals for their Men’s and Women’s FW23 campaign and it is a star-studded affair. A reflection of Prada’s long-standing relationship with cinema, the campaign sees Benedict Cumberbatch, Hunter Schafer, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Letitia Wright and Li Xian partnering with some human-sized flowers. The result is a surreal conversation, the gargantuan flowers, which Prada call “ageless symbols of a beauty between the everyday and the extraordinary” are metaphors for the FW23 collections and their inspirations — beauty, care, and love.
In imagery captured by Willy Vanderperre, each flower faces a different figure, teamed in exchanges and dialogues both visual and literal – in the accompanying campaign films, the cast converses with these improbable blooms to a script specially-created by Michael Cunningham – the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Hours.
The real question is, however, what do we think Benedict Cumberbatch and the flower are chatting about?
