“Iconic, intentional, innovative” – Sam Gellaitry on his Stone Island campaign
By Ella Joyce | Fashion | 5 March 2025

Stone Island’s latest SS25 Stellina drop is a lesson in function and form. This season, the brand’s performance line evolves with GORE-TEX outerwear and insulated garments – a hooded jacket is cast in neon green with anti-water construction, while a series of PrimaLoft® recycled knits are ensured to be both packable and biodegradable. Rounding out the collection, fleece hoodies, polo jerseys and track jackets are ergonomically cut in neutral hues of charcoal grey and black.

For the accompanying campaign, the Italian brand have collaborated with Scottish DJ and producer Sam Gellaitry to showcase the Stellina outerwear, joining the likes of Giggs, Spike Lee and Skepta as friends of the label. Following a string of non-stop streamed EPs, collaborations with the likes of PinkPantheress and METTE, and a debut album set to drop at the end of the year, Gellaitry is one of the most exciting and experimental names in electronic music. Photographed by David Sims and accompanied by a Q+A with renowned art critic Hans Ulrich Obrist, we caught up with Sam to ask him a few quick-fire questions of our own ahead of the campaign’s release.

Ella Joyce: What was it like working with Stone Island, do you have any personal memories of the brand?
Sam Gellaitry: It was such an honour to work with the brand as Stone Island has always been my favourite and is pretty much what got me into fashion in the first place!

EJ: How does the campaign and collection resonate with you and your style?
SG: I loved the quality of everything I was wearing. The colour is bolder than I’d usually go for, so it was fun to step out of my norm.

EJ: What tracks should people be adding to their playlists right now?
SG: Family and Friends by Oklou, I cannot stop listening to that track at the minute, it’s super addictive

EJ: Who are your biggest musical influences at the moment and why?
SG: I’ve been loving Mk.gee since he dropped his album last year! It is super inspiring to see his growth as an artist.

EJ: What gig are you most excited for in 2025?
SG: Touring my debut album is going to feel great around the end of the year, and I’ve been envisioning how that will look as I’ve been making it.

EJ: Finally, how would you sum up Stone Island in three words?
SG: Iconic, intentional, innovative.
