The deep south
After three hugely successful collaborations, Levi’s and Denim Tears are back with a new collection that celebrates both New Orleans and Black Masking culture. Also known as the Mardi Gras Indians, the Black Maskers are a fixture of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations, known for their bright and elaborate costumes.

The collaboration consists of eight new pieces, with key pieces being the Photo Trucker and Photo Jeans which feature photo-printed garments capturing the Young Seminole Hunters, a Black Masking group led by Big Chief Demond Melancon, as well as a track jacket and track pants adorned with cotton fleur-de-lis prints.
Tremaine Emory, founder of Denim Tears, said of the new collaboration: “New Orleans represents a unique intersection of African, Indigenous, and French cultural influences that have shaped American identity in profound ways. This collection honours the sacred traditions of the Mardi Gras Indians while recognising their continued relevance in contemporary culture.”
The collection will be available from April 4th in Levi’s stores, levi.com and denimtears.com as well as selected premium wholesalers on April 5th
