Rewind to Junya Watanbe‘s Joy Division soundtracked FW16 catwalk show and no doubt you’ll remember the brand’s footwear collaboration with German shoemaker Heinrich Dinkelacker, creating the ‘perfect shoe’.

Consisting of black and dark brown leathers, the collaboration teams Watanabe’s acute eye for design with Dinkelacker’s comfort, precision and quality (fact: depending on the model, around 300 manual working steps are necessary to construct a Heinrich Dinkelacker shoe). Founded in 1879, the German shoemaker has manufactured all their handmade shoes in Budapest since 1968, finishing each pair with the brand’s signature nail studded sole – a trait Watanabe was keen to include.
The shoes will be available at the end of this year at Dover Street Market and Comme Des Garcons online. Make an investment, these shoes will last you a lifetime.
