Southern-fried and far from frigid
First up this week we have a film with a heart pounding tense plot, Cold in July. Far from a stiff or in anyway frigid piece of cinema as the title may suggest, this gripping production from director Jim Mickle, starring  Michael C. Hall, will give you such a hefty portion of southern-fried mystery you’ll most likely get the sweats.

Focussing on the killing of a the home intruder on a mid July Texas evening, Michael C. Hall’s character Dane’s life begins to unravel into a dark underworld of corruption and violence from the offset, twisting and turning throughout the film until it reaches its inevitable destination: a cold, blood soaked dead end. Take a cold beer.

We all love a sale, bagging a bargain at a fraction of it’s assumed worth. What’s not to love? But it’s fair to say the Larry Clark photography sale is in a league of its own. Find, for one week only, photographs by the iconic  American photographer at a negligible £100. There are hundreds of snapshots taken between 1992-2010 and they’ll go quick so don’t get stroppy if all  that is let are a few bare bum shots. Or maybe they’ll go first… GO!

If you’d like to take a saunter down East London’s arterial Hackney Road this weekend then you’ll be pleasantly surprised to stumble across a magical old hardware shop come new pop up bar. This novel and well-decorated space, Hackney Hardware, is offering good wine, summer cocktails and fresh hand made food boards up until late August.

Also to be enjoyed is their Sunday Bites menu provided by east end foodie hero’s China & Ben.

The mushroom and pancetta arancini with a sneaky side of spag bol is absolutely the best summer lunch this side of town.
