LA life
Casablanca’s creative director Charaf Tajer brought Los Angeles to Paris for a collection rooted in LA’s melting pot of culture and creativity. Once inside the venue, guests were greeted by a show space lined with a series of custom cars such as a 1984 Buick, designed, modified and painted to celebrate the Mexican-American Los Angelenos Lowriders.
Turning to the Mexican-American counterculture of LA’s surf and skate scene as the starting point for this season saw Tajer serve up a taste of West Coast living. Models weaved between the vehicles on the runway in glittering denim, crochet knitwear and relaxed tailoring – with skate decks or surfboards under their arms. Kaleidoscope accents of neon green, cobalt blue and bubblegum pink burst across muted neutrals of olive greens and warm browns, while elegant gowns built from satin and silk met the ease of jersey tees and board shorts – mirroring the dichotomy of LA living.
