Hermes showcased the fundamentals of luxury craft

The inside of a house’s atelier is often reserved for the chosen few, a sacred space of creativity and design, but for SS25, Hermes invited us to step inside the space where it all began. Staged at La Garde Républicaine, the show space itself was built from wooden panels, reflecting this season’s focus on design fundamentals. Exploring the versatility of garments, creative director Nadège Vanhee presented coats that morphed into drawstring vests alongside garments decorated with complementary printing techniques. Skirts were crafted in silk mesh, denim was fashioned into utility jackets and dresses adopted apron-like silhouettes. The colour palette was a sea of buttery neutrals as the house’s leather expertise was cast in hues of caramels and chocolates – iterations of the house’s iconic Birkin bag were matchy-matchy. In stripping things back, Vanhee presented a collection which felt quintessentially Hermes, taking pride in the beauty of precision and craft.
