Palace met Calvin Klein
Hopping continents, oceans, and cultural landscapes, Palace and Calvin Klein have managed to bottle up the high-octane energies of London and New York for a capsule of basics that embrace both individuality and inclusion. In refined intimates and cosy pullovers, the two fashion titans seem to have had a jolly good time playing with Klein’s lengthy archive, creating zines and fashion films that star Willem Defoe and Dame Joan Collins, remixing signature scents à la CK One, and even making their own pair of Vans – dubbed the ‘Calvan’.

RIP Jordan Mooney, Queen of Punk
This week the fashion set said goodbye to a true trailblazer of the punk era as Pamela Rooke, a.k.a. Jordan Mooney, passed from a lengthy battle with cancer. Revered and feared in equal measure, the dark-eyed fashion icon was perhaps best known as the face of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren’s many-named boutique on the King’s Road, where she would cast a discerning eye over frightened shoppers and the Sex Pistols alike. Westwood herself took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a hand-written note and poem about her friend, who is survived by her family and partner.

There’s a special Virgil Abloh biography coming
American fashion critic and Pulitzer Prize-winner Robin Givhan has announced a forthcoming book about the life and legacy of Off-White and Louis Vuitton Men’s designer Virgil Abloh. Published by Crown, ‘Make It Ours‘ will focus on the ways in which Black American culture and identity have influenced music, sports, fashion and art in conjunction with Abloh’s stratospheric rise to the upper echelons of fashion. Nicholas Daley sets up shop in Selfridges
Lovers of menswear, rejoice! You can now immerse yourself in Nicholas Daley’s quilt-tastic SS22 collection at Selfridges. Located on the First Floor Designer Room, Daley’s space features bespoke quilted fabrics by British quilter Chris English, all of which have incorporated various deadstock fabrics from the shows of Daley’s past, and plant pots hand-knitted from recycled yarns. Oh, and you can also shop a selection of killer looks from the collection. it’s a no brainer.

Paul Smith and Ahluwalia join forces
Priya Ahluwalia and Paul Smith unveil their highly-anticipated collaborative capsule this week, and what a pair these two make. Combining archival photos taken in India and Nigeria with a slew of vintage cycling fits, the resulting collection draws from their respective house codes with a perfect blend of relaxed shapes and hypnotic graphic prints. “While our styles may appear different at first glance, we’re coming at it from the same place: a real conviction that clothes should be a source of joy,” Smith said of the project. “This collection is proof of that.”

Speaking of collaborations, these two British menswear supremos also announced a team-up this week, offering a wardrobe of deconstructed fits in luxe fabrics that take inspiration from the subcultural codes of both British and Japanese dress.
