The Biker

Courrèges’ FW25 collection combines Gianni Piacentino’s conceptual art with motorcycle culture

For FW25, Nicolas Di Felice sought inspiration from the wardrobe of conceptual Italian artist Gianni Piacentino. Best known for developing a body of work which merged minimalist design with a penchant for motorcycles, Di Felice transported the architectural pillars of Piacentino’s practice into Courrèges’ universe. Placing the concept of ‘the biker’ at the core of this season’s menswear collection – presented alongside a selection of pre-fall womenswear looks – each garment adheres to the minimalistic principles of Di Felice’s vision for the heritage brand, amped up with the biker spirit of this season’s muse.

Combining functional workwear with streamlined silhouettes, snap-collar jerseys and logo-embossed leather bomber jackets stand alongside outerwear built from car upholstery. The inclusion of barely there micro-studs or nude-illusion tattoo mesh allows for Di Felice to use the body as a canvas, working in subtle contrast to the designer’s refined tailoring; sweeping car coats and structured blazers. Harness-like fastenings act as a further nod to the collection’s motorcycle mood board, while the house’s signature Holy bag is reinterpreted as a cross-body, fit for strapping on for long rides into the sunset.
