Party time

Courrèges whipped up a confetti blizzard
By Ella Joyce | Fashion | 6 March 2025

Courrèges’ show formula never misses, returning to Le Carreau du Temple in Paris’ 3rd arrondissement once again, previous seasons have seen the brand transform the centre of the white showspace into an ‘Ocean Drum’ by Finnish artist duo Grönlund-Nisunen, and a giant panting parachute. For FW25, a carpet of multicoloured confetti covered the runway space, before being blown into the air once the show began, flittering around models with gentle celebration before being whipped into a party blizzard for the finale. An ode to the work of American artist Dan Colen’s Moments Like This series, the installation was created in collaboration with scenography director Remy Brière.

Amidst the confetti explosion, Courrèges archetypes were twisted at the seams with archival classics such as the trapeze mini, the tank top and the biker constructed into warped new silhouettes with asymmetric hemlines and angled silhouettes. Dresses wrapped the body in one great swish of fabric, tweed co-ord with confetti-like flecks mirrored the setting, and feathers sprouted from waistlines and lapels, at times taking the form of an entire top, paired with sleek, form-fitted tailoring. Eyewear was redesigned from the brand’s archive, forming a singular dash across models’ eyes in opaque black, while the new brand’s Cuff bag slipped over wrists like a bracelet. As the last piece of confetti hit the floor, a sense of joy and optimism resonated far beyond the showspace.
