LV Express
The Louis Vuitton womenswear collection this season took inspiration from rail travel and drew from the brand’s storied history in luxury luggage. Set in a space adjacent to Gare du Nord train station, which only a few days prior made international headlines when an unexploded WWII bomb was discovered nearby, nearly derailing Paris Fashion Week, the show drew endlessly from the emotional highs and lows of locomotive travel.
On the runway, the models were ready to board, hold-alls in hand. The collection journeyed through the 20th century – some silhouettes exuded a distinct flapper vibe, while others evoked 1940s Brief Encounter realness. There were also more casual looks inspired by 80s athleisure. The final look paid homage to a train conductor, complete with a lamp in hand, a compass around the neck, and a conductor’s hat perched on the head.
In a bold move, LV teamed up with Kraftwerk for the season, drawing direct inspiration from their iconic album Trans-Europe Express. Some of the outfits featured reproductions of the album’s cover, and the spirit of the album guided the collection’s journey.
