Wild side
From the Amazon to the Arrondissement, Isabel Marant took us on a tropical trip, infusing her inherent Parisian sensibility with exotic tones and textures. At the end of the runway in the Jardin du Palais Royal, a bright wall of light radiated a warming hue across the outdoor venue that gradually changed to mimic the gradient of sunset skies. Bringing the heat to Autumnal Paris, Marant filtered her inspiration through her signature artisanal codes: feathers and tassels and fringing danced in the early evening light, as did sequin-embellished sheer fabrications. Lightweight dresses draped across the body, skirts double-zipped at the front and drawstrings cinched jumpsuits at the waist. The distinctive patterns found on South American butterflies informed a vibrant, geometric silk print alongside studded leather shorts and slouchy suede boots, mixing signature boho and rock ‘n’ roll elements into the narrative. A master of the handcraft, Marant makes it cool, sexy, and utterly desirable.
