Paint splatter

The Isabel Marant man wears his art on his clothes
By Alex James Taylor | Fashion | 22 January 2025

Returning from the art studio, Isabel Marant’s FW25 man wears his craft across his clothing – paint splatter so seeped into his faded denim it becomes vivid decoration. The “nonchalant spirit and carefree essence” of an artist in full flow directs this season’s collection, mixed with the house’s hard-wired rock ‘n’ roll attitude and bohemian influences. Western workwear tropes inform baggy jeans, carpenter pants, denim shirts, and brushed mohair knitwear illustrated with vivid geometric patterns, while French workwear influences pinstripe tailoring and classic twill blue jacket silhouettes. Clothing is Marant’s canvas for creativity and expression, and here the designer expands her rich body of work.
